Corporate Controller
Company Overview:
OZZ Clean Energy ("OCE") is a high growth, entrepreneurial company, committed to providing low and non-carbon energy solutions focused on commercial enterprises throughout North America. OCE's solar division, OZZ Solar, has the regulatory expertise and technical experience to deploy service and maintain rooftop solar projects and is currently developing projects for commercial customers across Ontario. OCE's Gas & Power Division provides competitively priced natural gas and electricity to commercial, industrial and institutional customers.
Position Summary:
Reporting directly to the CFO, the Corporate Controller is a dynamic, energetic, results oriented individual who will lead the development of processes and best practices of the finance department to meet the highest standards for quality, timeliness and control. This individual will ensure that reported results comply with IFRS.
- Working with the CFO, will oversee the accounting function with responsibilities for the group consolidation, managing the Divisional Controllers, financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls and taxation.
- Assist in the preparation of financial models to support decision-making.
- Support M&A processes in due diligence reviews and integrating acquisitions into the group.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff and coordinate cross-functional training for staff as required.
- Prepare and maintain the Company’s accounting and finance policies and procedures.
- Assist in planning for growth, including identification and implementation of appropriate infrastructure.
- Management of the Company’s ERP system and make enhancement/upgrades as needed.
- Complete the monthly consolidation of the Company’s financial statements and prepare the quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements.
- Prepare accurate, reliable financial information, schedules and analysis for each business unit and legal entity, including monthly and year end working papers.
- Oversee financial planning and forecasting.
- Management of the tax process.
- Prepare information as required by regulatory agencies and act as a liaison for statutory audits/reviews.
- Initiate, prepare and provide ad-hoc reporting/analysis and research to support management decision-making.
Requirements
- University degree with a professional accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA).
- Minimum 5-10 years of audit firm/industry experience with increasing responsibility.
- The ability to work independently, problem solve, work under pressure and obtain results quickly while juggling many competing priorities/strategic and tactical.
- Strong skills with GAAP and IFRS.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in a high growth entrepreneurial environment is an asset.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Highly motivated, self-starter with the ability to meet required timeframes.
- Strong work ethic.
- Ability to quickly understand business process and be an advocate for change.
- Must be a team player and consensus builder.
- Excellent customer service orientation.
